Recently, the overall trend of raw materials has been declining, and the support for on-site costs has weakened. The overall polyester filament market is struggling to keep up, and the industry's profits continue to suffer losses. What will happen to the future of polyester filament?
As of November 20th, POY150D/48F in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions is priced at 7400 yuan/ton, FDY150D/96F is priced at 8025 yuan/ton, and DTY150D/48F is priced at 8750 yuan/ton, an increase of 150-200 yuan/ton from the end of October. Starting from mid November, the focus of the polyester filament market has slightly shifted upwards.
Entering November, the PTA and ethylene glycol markets on the raw material end have been volatile and strong, but terminal orders are limited. Due to downstream demand drag, the growth rate of polyester filament is lower than that of the raw material end, resulting in increased costs and continuous compression of enterprise cash flow. As of November 20th, the profits of POY150D/48F in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions were -437 yuan/ton, FDY150D/96F was -312 yuan/ton, and DTY150D/48F was -437 yuan/ton. The industry's profits were at a low level and continued to suffer losses.
As of last Thursday, the overall inventory of polyester filament had a duration of 16-26 days, with POY inventory ranging from 13-21 days, FDY inventory ranging from 17-27 days, and DTY inventory ranging from 25-32 days. During this period, some polyester filament factories offered discounted shipments, and downstream suppliers also stocked up moderately as needed. The inventory is currently within a controllable range.
At present, the overall production of polyester filament is at a high level, with production maintained at over 80%. In the current low profit situation, multiple sets of equipment in Zhejiang Hengyi have been experiencing production reduction and maintenance since mid November. It is not ruled out that the polyester filament factory may continue to reduce production and load in the future.
Overall, the supply pressure in the polyester filament market is average. Last week, there was a partial rebound in seasonal orders at the end of the year, with a slight increase in weaving production. However, the continuity of orders is not strong. As the textile off-season enters, there is an expectation of a decrease in weaving production in the later period. In the current situation of continuous losses in profits, the inventory of polyester filament factories is still within a controllable range. In the short term, there is still room for high prices of polyester to repair profits. In the future, it is necessary to pay timely attention to macro changes in crude oil, factory inventory, and terminal demand.
Cost support collapses, industry profits continue to suffer losses, what will happen to the future of polyester filament?
