Mainly used in bottle-grade polyester (widely used in the packaging of various beverages, especially carbonated beverages), polyester film (mainly used in packaging materials, films and tapes, etc.) and polyester for chemical fibers. The earliest history of polyester series products, It can be said that in 1928, Carothers of DuPont Corporation of the United States conducted research on the polycondensation of aliphatic dibasic acids and ethylene glycol, and first made fibers from polyester. In the autumn of 1931, Carothers officially published his research results in the American Chemical Society. The fiber has the luster of silk, and its strength and elasticity can be compared with silk, but because of its low melting point, easy hydrolysis and alkali resistance, it has no practical value. But this study is the first to demonstrate that polyester can be made into fibers. In 1941, Winfield and Dixon of the British Calico Printing and Dyeing Workers Association (hereinafter referred to as CPA) continued to study polyester under the inspiration of Carothers' work. In 1942, CPA obtained a patent. It can be said that polyester (PET) was the first to realize industrial production in the UK in 1949. Because of its excellent wearability and high strength properties, it has become the most produced variety among synthetic fibers.
